Lake Vermillion, South Dakota

Lake Vermillion, South Dakota was beautiful. It's about 5 miles off the highway and surrounded by fields and a few trees. The lake is huge and clean and just so pretty. We got there around 5 yesterday, and it was unbelievably windy. I was seriously afraid that the tent wouldn't hold up, but it survived. We had veg chicken and mac and cheese for dinner, which was tricky to cook with all the wind.

The wind eventually died down, but it stayed light out until around 9:30.

This morning on the way out we stopped at this place calle Porter's Sculpture Park, which was super weird. It was basically just a stretch of land in between a few cow farms with big metal sculptures in it. It was pretty awesome, we took a lot of awesome pictures, but unfortunately they won't be posted until I have real Internet access.

So now we're headed to Badlands National Park.

  3. So cool. You would have loved the sculpture thing Cecilia, there was so much weird stuff there. There was a gigantic bull head made out of pieces of scrap metal with 4 full sculptures of bulls standing upright around it holding spears. It was bizarre. I can't wait to post pictures of it all!
